Contemporary Jewish-themed cultural posters that were commissioned by the Polish government under communism are presented in an exhibition currently on display at the JCC in Manhattan.
The exhibit features some 70 works of the Polish School of Posters, created by renowned architects, designers and painters from the 1950s through the 1980s. The post-World War II era is considered the golden age of Polish poster art, and the pieces on display have been compared to France’s La Belle Époque of the 1890s. The Jewish/Polish posters can be viewed online, too, at www.contemporaryposters.com.

Hello, fellow Forward reader! I’m Joel Brown, a Forward reader and supporter for more than 15 years, and currently the chair of the board of directors.
I’m an avid Forward reader because it ticks so many of my essential boxes: excellent journalism, Jewish focus and diverse viewpoints. In today’s political climate, what I most appreciate is the Forward’s independence — made possible by the generosity of its membership.
The Forward is committed to bringing you unbiased, nuanced Jewish news. From my position as board chair, I see an exciting future as we expand our position as the definitive independent voice of contemporary American Judaism.
