Hanukkah wouldn’t be complete without a mischievous blue goblin, a conniving, busybody neighbor, a boy named Jakob and a couple of magic dreidels. The Jewish Theatre of the South presents “The Magic Dreidels,” a family show written by Jenna Zark and based on the book by Eric Kimmel.
Set on the first night of Hanukkah in an 18th-century Russian shtetl, the play tells the story of the adventures of a young boy who loses his beloved dreidel at the bottom of a well, only to be provided with magical replacements — a dreidel that spins out potato latkes and another that rains down gelt. Originally presented by Jewish Theatre of the South in 2002, the play is directed by Barbara Cole-Uterhardt.
