‘HAVANA NAGILAH’ & MORE
The Hip Hop Hoodíos, four bilingual musicians from Latino-Jewish backgrounds — “hoodío” is a twist on the Spanish word for “Jew,” judio — perform their blend of alternative rock and rap in Spanish and English. Fronted by Josué Noriego, the group includes Federico Fong of the Mexican rock band Jaguares on bass and drums; Abraham Velez on guitar, bass and vocals, and El Gato Escoces on guitar. The band’s debut album, “Raza Hoodia,” features songs such as “Havana Nagilah” and “Ocho Kandelikas.”
